The idea (Golda, Workers.vc): "A bunch of people always try to do events. I think we should really do it with paid ticketing and replace Eventbrite. We used to do that with What's Cookin'."

Why now (researched 2026-08-05, all sources fetch-verified): - Eventbrite charges 3.7% + $1.79/ticket + 2.9% processing, and was just acquired by Bending Spoons — organizers are looking around. Luma takes 5%. - Paid ticketing on ATProto (Bluesky's protocol) is being born right now: atmo.rsvp opened an 'Atmosphere Tickets' pilot in July 2026, gated to one NYC community (github.com/flo-bit/atmo-events/issues/64). - Nobody yet does native payments + ATProto identity in one system — there is no ticket/payment lexicon at all. The field is wide open. - Strongest open-source base for a service: Hi.Events (AGPL, active, Stripe payouts). The most mature (pretix) forbids third-party ticketing services under its default license.

What the accelerator brings: production ATProto infrastructure (LinkedClaims lexicon, Jetstream indexer), a payments widget (SimpleTip), and event-community history.

Shape of the venture: flat-fee or low-percent ticketing for community organizers — school fairs, local gigs, meetups — with portable ATProto identity instead of a platform silo.
